Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and former minister Gade Venkata Reddy from coastal Andhra has thrown his weight behind TDP MLA from Rayalaseema Baireddy Rajasekhara Reddy who created a furore on Saturday by demanding a separate Rayalaseema state in the event of the Centre deciding to carve out Telangana state.
Venkata Reddy said there was nothing wrong with the Baireddy’s remarks as he fully backed the demand for keeping the state united Baireddy had demanded a separate Rayalaseema state only when division of the Andhra Pradesh is imminent. Several other leaders from Rayalaseema were also demanding statehood for the Rayalaseema, he said.
“If the process of carving out smaller sates from the existing Andhra Pradesh begins, the state will go to the dogs," he warned and said that the very concept of smaller states was detrimental to the integrity of the country.

\"If the process of carving out smaller sates begins, the state will go to the dogs,\" a senior Congress leader said.
