Mumbai: How far would you go to make your child a genius? That's exactly what Apna Asmaan starring Irfan Khan, Shobhana and Rajat Kapoor deals with.
Irfan plays a father to a disabled child and husband to Shobhana. It’s a story of parents who are unable to deal with the knowledge of having an abnormal child and they go ahead and do something that alters the child forever.
“It's about how to deal with such sort of situations. Nowadays people are getting engulfed into a mental state in which they are not able to see the difficulties of special people,” says Irfan.
For first time filmmaker Kaushik Roy, who won the best film at the Stuttgart Film Festival, the movie is not just a festival film but a story that was waiting to be told and one that should be watched by everyone.
“I want my film to be seen by a lot of people. It's a serious subject, which is affecting homes. It's spoiling relationships and making parents fall apart. So, it's something that I had to do,” Roy said.
Apna Asmaan hits theatres on September 7.
