Apollo booked in Mahajan case

New Delhi: The Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case resurfaced on Wednesday as the police chargesheeted Apollo Hospital's doctors and staff along with friends of the Mahajans.

Saying not only were they trying to save his life – they were also helping him escape the law.

The series of press briefings to give Rahul Mahajan a clean chit in the drug abuse case has now put Apollo Hospital authorities in a spot.

Delhi Police on Wednesday charged six doctors and six staff members, including the deputy general manager of the hospital, of destructing evidence.

Delhi Police officers say they have sufficient evidence to charge the Hospital staffers under section 201 of IPC for destruction of evidence and deliberately shielding the accused.

The chargesheet points out that Hospital registers were deliberately tampered with – to change the time of admission of Rahul Mahajan and his aide Bibek Moitra.

And all this was done at the specific instructions of Apollo DGM Rajji Chandru and Pramod Mahajan's aide Sudhanshu Mittal, who appears to be amused by this latest development.

Mittal says, “He says that it is comical that I have been made a witness by the Delhi police in the same case as well as I have been chargesheeted for destruction of evidence.”

Harish Sharma is already a co-accused in the case and with the fresh chargesheet roping in Sudhanshu Mittal as well it looks like Mahajan loyalists are being made to pay a heavy price for their loyalty to the family.
