Mumbai: After a ton of rumours and speculation surrounding its launch date, the Apple iPad mini has finally made its way to India. This mini tablet from Apple is now available at authorised Apple resellers for a starting price of Rs 21,900.
The 16 GB iPad mini Wi-Fi only version is available for Rs 21,900, while the 32 GB and 64 GB versions costs Rs 27,900 and Rs 33,900, respectively. The iPad mini Wi-Fi + cellular version costs Rs 29,900 for the 16 GB version, and the 32 GB version is priced at Rs 35,900. The high-end 64 GB iPad mini Wi-Fi + cellular version sells for Rs 41,900.
With the iPad mini starting at Rs 21,900 (16GB), it can compete directly with the Nexus 7 and the Galaxy Tab 2 (310), both of which are priced slightly below Rs 20,000. Read our comparison of these three tablets here.

Apple introduced a smaller iPad - iPad mini, as expected, but also updated its full-sized one. It also unveiled new Mac computers, including a 13-inch version of a MacBook Pro with sharper, Retina display.

With a screen measuring 7.9 inches on the diagonal, the iPad mini is about half the size of the regular iPad.

It's slightly larger than the 7-inch tablets from Amazon.com Inc. and Google Inc. The regular iPad is 9.7 inches.

The iPad mini is 23 per cent thinner and 53 per cent lighter than the third generation iPad.

The iPad mini features FaceTime HD and iSight cameras. It is claimed to offer up to 10 hours of battery life.

The iPad mini features a front-facing FaceTime HD camera and a 5 megapixel iSight camera on the back with advanced optics for taking still pictures and recording full 1080p HD video.

The iPad mini comes in 7.2 mm thin and weighs 0.68 pounds. The dual-core A5 chip is said to deliver responsive graphics and a fast, fluid Multi-Touch experience.

The new iPad mini with Wi-Fi models will be available in black and slate or white and silver on Friday, November 2, for $329 for the 16GB model, $429 for the 32GB model and $529 for the 64GB model.

The iPad mini with Wi-Fi Cellular will start shipping a couple of weeks after the Wi-Fi models, beginning in the US on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. iPad mini with Wi-Fi Cellular will be available for $459 for the 16GB model, $559 for the 32GB model and $659 for the 64GB model.

The Apple iPad Mini will initially be released in 34 countries globally.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is available in India with a 2.5 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1 GHz, 8GB of memory and 128GB of flash storage starting at Rs114,900 , and with 256GB of flash storage starting at Rs 134,900.

The 21.5-inch iMac will be available in November through Apple Authorized Resellers. The 27-inch iMac will be available in December through Apple Authorized Resellers.

Apple also announced the fourth generation iPad featuring a gorgeous 9.7-inch Retina display, new Apple-designed A6X chip and FaceTime HD camera.
