Team TVS Racing's Aravind K P became the first Indian rider to win a motocross championship overseas. He won the 2011 Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) Championship with a total of 73 points. Aravind had to fend off 22 riders including teammates HK Pradeep, Santosh CS and Tomoya Suzuki, the 2010 UAM Asian champion from Japan, before clinching the title.
Post receiving the championship trophy, Aravind said, "It was a great experience riding in Sri Lanka. I have learnt a lot during this event as it was a great platform for me to fine tune my riding skills and now, I have emerged as a much better rider. I am overjoyed to have finished on top." Apart from the championship trophy, Aravind also received a fully-paid trip to watch the Dakar rally later this year.
