Mumbai: The doctor couple exposed on CNN-IBN for allegedly abetting mass female foeticide were well connected with top Maharashtra politicians. In an embarrassment for BJP leader Gopinath Munde and NCP chief Sharad Pawar, new pictures show them with the man known as the butcher of Beed, Sadam Munde, the doctor who is wanted for a number of female foeticide cases.
The pictures also show the doctor's son hobnobbing with Gopinath Munde's nephew Dhananjay, a powerful leader himself in Parli. Doctor Munde and his wife have been on the run for two weeks.
They are both accused in the death of their patient Vijayamala Patekar who was pregnant with her 5 month girl child when she underwent an abortion. While both the NCP and the BJP have denied links with the wanted doctor, activists claim that he enjoyed political patronage.
