New Delhi: The UPA government and the Opposition were involved in a slugfest in the Rajya Sabha over the shortages of arms and ammunition faced by the defence forces. Raising the issue BJP MP and Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley said that the Indian defence forces were moving on imported trucks, which was not a good sign.
"The country which aspires to become a superpower has to import trucks for its Army from abroad? We all have to put our heads together and think," said Jaitley in the Rajya Sabha.
Defence Minister AK Antony assured the members that the government was taking adequate steps to ensure that the defence forces were not short of critical equipments.

Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley said that the Indian defence forces were moving on imported trucks, which was not a good sign.
"I don't want to score narrow points on defence issues. I will take steps wherever corrections are needed. I know there are limitations and shortage of state of art equipment in certain areas. I am not trying to justify, it's not a one day affair. It didn't happen in one day or one month," said Antony.
