Mumbai: What would you do if your janitor showed up at your door in a truck that looked like it belonged to the Army? Well that's just what the Army is upset about because the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has painted its garbage trucks army green.
It's the garbage trucks that belong to Mumbai's Municipal Corporation that's making the army see red. That's because under the cover of darkness the shade of green looks very much like the olive green used on Army trucks, which is why the Army Authorities in the Bombay sub area have written to the civic agency.
Calling these trucks a security hazard, which could be used to access prohibited areas. The army therefore wanted the agency to change the colour of the trucks.
While Army authorities refused to comment the civic body claims the colour was cleared by the RTO and is different.
Solid Waste Management BMC Chief Engineer R R Markande said, “Our colour is Phantom 378c and the army colour is olive green."
But never the less the BMC has agreed to paint Orange stripes over the vehicles.
"The army has written to us and since it is a matter of security we are reconsidering," Markande adds.
So Mumbai can be made both clean and green and that too without any threat to its security.
