Srinagar: The Army on Saturday recovered the bodies of six of the eight infiltrators who got buried alive in an avalanche in Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir in March, a defence spokesman said.
Eight heavily armed militants got buried alive in the avalanche while infiltrating into Gurez during heavy snow conditions in March, the spokesman said.
He said the bodies could not be retrieved earlier due to heavy accumulation of snow.
With the melting of snow bodies of six militants have been recovered and a search is on to locate the remaining bodies, the spokesman told PTI.
He said the militants were well equipped and clothed to infiltrate through the snow laden ridge lines of north Kashmir.
Six AK-47 rifles were also recovered, he added.
