Around the world in a little pedal boat

Mumbai: His feet just can't stay still and his eyes are constantly scouring the atlas. But Jason Lewis is an adventurer following in the footsteps of the last great adventurer to circumnavigate the world, Ferdinand Magellan, but of course, being British, Jason has to be different.

"The world has been circumnavigated using hot air balloons, motor boats and even aeroplanes but no one has done it yet using human power," said Lewis.

He has spent the last 13 years of his life working his way across the globe through various countries and even across oceans in a little pedal boat and it's not because he didn't have a travel agent.

"Human power is a great way to see the world because it keeps you slow rather than a train or aeroplane where you miss everything," he said.

And of course, apart from some snail paced sightseeing, there's a lesson in all of this.

"It's just the principle and metaphor of going for something you really believe in and sticking it out," said Lewis.

Now don't go sacking your travel agent just yet, instead hop across to Mumbai's boat club and live vicariously through Jason Lewis.
