London: Werder Bremen winger Mesut Ozil has refused a new contract offer from the Bundesliga side, possibly opening the door for Arsenal to buy the Gelsenkirchen native in the summer transfer window.
The German international, who is of Turkish descent, has only a year left on his current deal and £15million could be enough to bring him to the Emirates.
Ozil started and played 67 minutes in Germany’s 1-0 friendly defeat to Argentina at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Wednesday.
In eight appearances for Germany, Ozil has scored once, but the 21-year-old is known more for his playmaking abilities and capacity to spray passes around the pitch.
The Gunners will have a battle on their hands with Ozil reportedly receiving interest from European giants Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
