New Delhi: A journalist was shot at by unknown assailants in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday evening. The journalist was identified as Tongam Rina, an Associate Editor with the Arunachal Times. The incident took place as the victim was entering her office in capital Itanagar.
No arrests have been made so far in the case while the victim is said to be recuperating at a hospital.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki said that checkpoints had been set up throughout the state capital and a search operation was underway to nab the gunman.
Meanwhile, Taba Ajum, President of the Press Club of Arunachal Pradesh, said, "This is the second incident of a journalist being shot at in Arunachal Pradesh. The incident took place at around 5.30 pm. This is a very serious situation. Journalists in the state are scared. We cannot work like this."
