New Delhi: It is being called the mega wedding of Andra Pradesh. Nearly 700 constables, 35 DSPs and 120 SHOs were reportedly deployed to ensure the wedding of Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana's daughter went off smoothly. Spilling into crores, the wedding has been called by some as the mega wedding of the year.

Anusha, a medical student, tied the knot with the scion of a realtor group, Somi on Friday night. The star-studded guest line-up included ministers Chiranjeevi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Pallam Raju along with governor ESL Narasimhan, K Rosaiah and Karnataka governor HR Bharadwaj.

Around 80,000 guests were invited to the grand bash at Vizianagaram in Visakhapatnam. Guests were hosted at a five-star hotel whose room tariffs are the highest in the town. The cost of the main dais where the event was concluded is estimated to be around a whopping Rs 1 crore. Flowers imported from Singapore were used for decoration.

EAS Sarma, Former Secretary in the Finance Ministry, however, slammed the wedding as a gross misuse of public authority. "Andhra Pradesh is facing sever power shortage. This violates all losses. PM spoke about austerity. Who is the aam admi in this government? They all believe in five-star culture. Small taxi operators were forced to cancel their previous appointments to facilitate the needs of this wedding, that too at very nominal rates."
