Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the two sub-continent powerhouse, face each other in the first of the five-ODI series in Sharjah.

As it happened: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, 1st ODI in Sharjah

Sri Lanka lost too many wickets chasing Pakistan's massive score which they got through a century by Mohammad Hafeez.

Both the sides are coming into the series after drawing the two-match T20 series 1-1. But Pakistan are more match-ready than their counterparts as they had two back-to-back series (home and away) against South Africa and the good result in South Africa would have done wonders to the team's confidence. But then, unpredictability and Pakistan always go hand in hand.

Playing XI:

Pakistan:) Ahmed Shehzad, Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Sohaib Maqsood, Misbah-ul-Haq(c), Umar Akmal(w), Shahid Afridi, Bilawal Bhatti, Sohail Tanvir, Saeed Ajmal, Junaid Khan

Commentary (Sri Lanka 1st Innings)

Pakistan finally showing some consistency. The batting seems to have improved and slowly, they look a dangerous side. Credit to Sri Lanka who stayed and fought till the end. Guess this sets the tone for the rest of the series and tour. We still have four games to go and the second ODI will be played on Friday, 20th December, 2013 at 1100 GMT (1630 IST). Do join us then. On behalf of the commentators and scorers, ADIOS! TAKE CARE!

MOHAMMAD HAFEEZ has been named the MAN OF THE MATCH. Says that this innings was personally necessary for him as he was going through a slump. Adds that he happy to have achieved what he set out to do and thanks the crowd for coming to support Pakistan.
