As nation celebrates I-Day, BSF soldiers continue to guard border

Srinagar: As we celebrate Independence Day on Thursday, there are some who are busy guarding our frontiers. Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers in RS Pura brave hostile terrain and bad weather to keep people safe.

It's Independence Day, but on India-Pakistan border it's another day of vigilance and dealing with cross-border firing. When the IBN team reached the point on the Line of Control, it was raining heavily and there was a constant chatter of gunfire from across the border.

In the last two months, there have been more than seven ceasefire violations by Pakistan. Soldiers have been braving bullets to ensure that the border is safe.

One of the soldiers Deelar Singh said they are ready for any situation. "We're vigilant all the time. We are ready for any situation," he said.

Another soldier Jaspal Singh saaid, "The enemy constantly fires upon us. We are always alert so that citizens can sleep."

Soldier C Rangrajan said they are not worried about weather.
