Asha Bhonsle to sing for Dev Anand's new film

Mumbai: It's an alliance that has created some of the most memorable songs in Bollywood and now they are back together after almost three decades.

The last time they worked together was when Asha Bhonsle sang the number Jab chahe mera jadooo in Dev Anand's 1980 hit, Lootmaar. Now she is singing for the evergreen hero's forthcoming film, Charge Sheet.

"I was a little surprised when he called me, but then he said that there are just three legends, you, me and Lata ji," says Asha Bhonsle.

"She was always on my mind because she is a very industrious singer and this song needed her because the pitch is very high. And there are not many singers who can go that high, but Asha can, she has that caliber," says Dev Anand.

Charge Sheet is a murder mystery where Dev Anand plays a retired officer. The legendary duo got together again on Friday evening at Spectral Harmony in Mumbai for the recording of the first song.

"After a long time, I am singing a great song for Dev sahab and that's a really nice thing," says Asha Bhonsle.

And while nostalgia was certainly in the air, it remains to be seen whether the hit pair can recreate the magic that once captured the hearts of music buffs everywhere.
