Mumbai: The last rites of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle's daughter Varsha, who committed suicide, were performed in the wee hours today at Marine Lines. The 56-year-old singer and columnist, who was reportedly suffering from depression, ended her life yesterday by shooting herself in the head at her residence in Prabhu Kunj apartments on the posh Peddar Road in South Mumbai.
According to sources close to the family, the funeral took place between 3-4 am at Chandanwadi crematorium in Marine Lines.
Asha, who was away in Singapore, to attend the closing ceremony of the Marathi International Film and Theatre Awards (MIFTA), rushed back to India and reached here around 11 pm last night.
