Click to play videoNew Delhi: An aspiring model allegedly killed a female executive in New Delhi for the lure of fast money, police said on Thursday. Himanshu was arrested on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in the crime.
Himanshu Jetly alias Honey was arrested from Alaknanda in south Delhi on Wednesday for allegedly murdering his friend Veerpal Kaur in her rented accommodation in Kalkaji July 30, a police officer said. Himanshu was reportedly upset with her for refusing to part with her ATM card.
The 20-year-old struggling model and reality TV aspirant has now been arrested.
Himanshu Jetly, the accused had not made any name for himself in the field of modelling as yet but loved to live an expensive lifestyle. Wearing expensive sun-shades and gelling his hair, he was aspiring to land some acting assignments or modelling contracts.
He had arrived from Ludhiana but had not been able to gain employment in the world of glamour.
His only confidante, the 24-year-old family friend Veerpal Kaur was an executive working with a private firm.
Himanshu had reportedly often borrowed money from Veerpal for the same but when he came to her house on the morning of July 28 he was desperate and was not willing to take a 'no' for an answer.
When Veerpal refused to help him with money, Himanshu allegedly assaulted her with an iron pipe. Veerpal gave in and handed over her ATM card but the young man still went ahead and smothered her with a quilt.
Police narrate the sequence of events as:
- Veerpal was reportedly ironing clothes.
- Himanshu pushed her to the ground.
- He then sat on top of her body and smothered her with a quilt.
- The ATM card in Veerpal's hands fell to the ground.
DCP South East Delhi, Shalini Singh said, "He desperately needed the money to get a portfolio made. His SIM card had also been blocked. He had to take Veerpal's SIM card to even get his phone activated."
According to the police, Himanshu remained unfazed even after the crime. He took his girlfriend out for a movie and bought her gifts, all from the victim's money. The police had found Veerpal's body on the July 30.
Undiscovered for quite some time, her body lay decaying in her own flat in the capital's Kalkaji area. Himanshu Jetly dreamed to be in the spotlight but ended up starring in a crime most heinous.
