Nalbari: Opposition Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Chandra Mohan Patowary on Saturday said people in Assam are looking for a change as they are fed up of the ten-year rule of Congress in the state.

"There are winds of change and the people's mood is palpable. They want change," Patowary told a public rally in Nalbari.

"The opposition has got a very good chance to form the government as people have realised their mistake of voting for the Congress," he said.

Assam looking for change: Patowary

"Corruption at all levels, and price rise have hit hard the common man. The government, both in the state and the Centre, are controlled by big businessmen," Patowary, whose home district is Nalbari, said.

"People are looking for relief from the corrupt reign of Tarun Gogoi and a wave of regionalism is flowing across the state," he said.

In the event of coming to power, the AGP president said venture schools will be regularised and better irrigation facilities will be provided to the farmers.

"We will work for complete sealing of the Indo-Bangla border and total implementation of the Assam accord," he said. Patowary is in a direct fight with former minister and Congress nominee Nilomani Sen Deka in Dharmapur Assembly constituency.
