Assam violence: Bodoland People's Front MLA Pradeeep Brahma arrested

Guwahati: Assam MLA Pradeep Brahma from Bodoland People's Front has been arrested by the state police for his alleged involvement in the ethnic violence on Thursday. Brahma was arrested from Kokrajhar.

The protestors blocked railway tracks across the state following the arrest of the MLA, demanding his release.

Brahma was held after seven cases were registered against him. This is the first significant arrest in the case.

Meanwhile, an indefinite curfew has been imposed in Kokrajhar district where the violence first began last month after 2 people were injured in another round of firing.

76 people have died so far and over 2 lakh people have been displaced.
