New Delhi: 200 kilometres from Kochi where a face-off between BJP and JD(S) took place, a crucial political game is playing out.
And at the end of an intense day, its first innings lead for the father-son duo Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy. The captain and his deputy are still at the crease with the Opposition trying to figure out how to bowl them out.
The BJP is now realising that they would have to do better when they demand transfer of power again after a brainstorming session in Delhi.
Says Karnataka Deputy CM, B S Yediyurappa, "We have submitted a resignation letter with a covering letter to the Chief Minister. He told us please wait till the October 5."
Earlier, the BJP threats and the ultimatum to Chief Minister Kumaraswamy had made no impact whatsoever. The evening deadline had come and gone.
All BJP ministers along with their leader Yediyurappa have put in their papers and BJP leader, Yashwant Sinha, managing the crisis for the BJP was talking tough.
"I am unable to agree with the Chief Minister that we have not been in communication with the party or with him," Sinha said.
However, an unfazed Kumaraswamy quietly focussed on his official work and he regretted that the BJP was talking through the media and not communicating with him.
He was obviously ignoring the demand for transfer of power according to the timetable. The BJP was being hammered.
"Our party leaders have called a Nation Executive Meet on October 5 in Delhi. It is only after the outcome of the meeting that I will take my decision," Kumaraswamy had said.
The climax in the nataka of Karnataka just got postponed. For the next two days, both sides will assess the scenario, which way the crisis will turn, whether they are seriously looking at each other as future allies or was it time to part ways. Right now, it's advantage Gowda and his son.
