San Diego, California: Arjun Atwal, playing on the tough South Course at Torrey Pines, had a nightmarish round with a card of five-over 77 that left him well outside the cut after the second round of the Farmers Insurance at Torrey Pines on Friday.
Atwal's good work of five-under 67 was all undone with a round that had seven bogeys and just two birdies, and he finished the two rounds at even-par 144, which was two off the cut.
Atwal birdied the second but had three bogeys in a row from fourth to sixth and then another on eighth. Bogeys on 12th, 16th and 18th completely ruined the card and even a bogey on 17th did not help.
He had four birdies, an eagle and just one bogey on the first day.
Atwal had earlier missed the cut at the Sony Open and the Humana Challenge and has had a poor start to the season.
Also missing the cut was Daniel Chopra, who shot 77 and 70 in the two rounds.
Kyle Stanley shot a four-under 68 despite a double bogey and grabbed a one-shot lead over Brandt Snedeker (64).
Stanley was 14-under 130 to Snedeker's 13-under as Phil Mickelson also missed the cut after rounds of 77 and 68. The cut came at two-under 142.
Sang-Moon Bae, a PGA Tour rookie but world no. 38, shot 67, the best on the South Course, and he was tied third at 12-under with Martin Flores, who had a 67 on the South Course.
