Aurangabad: This could well be the highest valued car deal in India. A group of businessmen has put Aurangabad on the world map by buying a whopping 150 high-end luxury cars in one go. The group wants to put their hometown on the global map.

The Mercedes Benz cars priced at over Rs 65 crore, the highest valued car deal in India. And it's all happening in a small city in the underdeveloped Marathawada region of Maharashtra - Aurangabad.

A group of businessmen, lawyers, doctors and other professionals have come together to change the image of Aurangabad from a backward, sleepy city to an economic hub.

Rishi Darda, MD Lokmat group, said: “We wanted to put Aurangabad on the world map.” Rahul Mishrikotkar, of RHS Ventures, said: “We want to invite all investors and industries to Aurangabad.”

This 'Aurangabad group' -- popularly called so -- made a bulk booking in April, forcing companies to acknowledge the hidden potential in smaller towns and cities in India.

Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India said there is tremendous economic power in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

These young owners are all set now to get into the driver's seat to showcase Aurangabad as the new hope of Maharashtra.
