New Delhi: The Australian police is still holding on to Dr Mohammed Haneef coordinating the investigations with their counterparts in the UK after the failed terror plots in London and Glasgow. In Delhi, the Australian Defence minister Brendan Nelson has asked for a speedier probe. The CBI has made it clear that cooperation is not possible without the necessary paper work as well.

“This particular issue will require us to develop some sort of a mutual arrangement, which will allow us to expedite the deliberations, investigations on these sorts of issues in the future,” said Brendan Nelson Australia Defence Minister.

A pact for sharing information to combat terrorism and the alleged involvement of the Indian doctor in the British terror plot will be the top the agenda on Australian defence minister’s visit to India.

Though the visit was planned much before the arrest of Bangalore-based Mohammad Haneef in the foiled Britain bombings, Nelson’s 3-day visit is expected to provide an opportunity to share notes on implications of the arrest and finetune the strategy on combating terrorism.

Even as Haneef's custody has been extended the Australian Defence Minister Dr Brendan Nelson has said that Haneef will be held innocent till guilt is established. However, the Australian Defence Minister refused to say when Haneef's detention will end.

Dr Brendan Nelson has sad that Australia will continue to screen doctors keeping in mind capability, not religion and nationality. Dr Nelson also said "We are respectful of the fact that different countries have different ways of approaching similar issues."
