Tripunithura: Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has criticised the right-wing politicians for the misuse of religion for political gains. He stated that the tendency of communal forces to interfere in the state administration would hamper the spirit of democracy. He was inaugurating the Chathayam day celebrations organised jointly by the Thekkumbagom branch of SNDP Yogam and Sree Narayana Dharmaposhini Sabha here on Friday.

The Opposition Leader opined that one of the major problems faced by the nations is the shedding of blood and tears in the name of religion. He exhorted the believers to single out fundamentalists as the religious interference in politics and political interference in religion is the root cause of all problems.

Municipal chairman R Venugopal, Opposition Leader C N Sundaran, councillor E K Krishnankutty and BJP state general secretary A N Radhakrishnan spoke. The meeting was presided over by branch secretary V V Moni.
