New Delhi: Former Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharati on Tuesday welcomed a commission’s report on the demolition of the Babri Masjid but was not apologetic about the event 17 years ago.
“What happened on December 6, 1992 was because of the provocation of the Kar Sewaks, who were more than 5 lakh gathered,” said Bharati.
Bharati was reacting to the Justice M S Liberhan submitting its report to the Prime Minister on Tuesday.
"I have given my full version to the Liberhan commission. I definitely wanted Ram temple to come up and I definitely wanted that building to come down but not in that manner. But I am not apologetic and I am not going to apologise. I am ready to be hanged for it," she said.
