New Delhi: In a country where there are recurring cases of babies being abandoned, perhaps this is just another story of a child nobody wants because she's tested HIV reactive.
Her’s is a cry that asking a nation to look at its moral compass, 13-day-old Kritika has already been abandoned thrice.
Dumped by her mother in an auto rickshaw soon after she was born, she has moved from the hands of a poor childless couple to the house of a medical representative and now finally to an NGO.
The reason - she tested HIV Reactive in a basic AIDS test.
“The foster parents went to the metropolitan court and requested the city Magistrate saying that they want to give back the child,” says president, Sahyog NGO, Sonali Kohli.
The NGO took her to a hospital where Kritika is being attended to. And for the time being Kritika's doctor, Dr Supriya Gupta and Sonali are like her new mothers.
Dr Gupta is hopeful that though her biological mother might have been HIV positive, there is a fair chance that Kritika might not test HIV positive.
Says Dr Gupta, " She is a normal baby. Her’s is a case of social abandonment as her parents abandoned her. And because of an apparently false alarm, the foster parents have also abandoned her too.”
