Bag full of cash seized near Puttaparthi

Hyderabad: Police have seized a vehicle carrying a bag full of cash Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The money was recovered late on Saturday The vehicle was heading towards Bangalore.

The cash is estimated to be well over Rs 25 lakh. The police have asked for a counting machine.

Police sources say this money could have come from the Sai Trust in Puttaparthi as such a huge amount of money is handled only by the trust in the area.

Shahnawaz Qasim, the Anantapur SP told CNN-IBN that the police questioned a driver who said one of the drivers was from the Sathya Sai Trust in Puttaparthi.

The entire amount will be deposited with the court pending investigations. This came less than 48 hours after Sathya Sai Baba's personal chamber was opened. It contained 98 kg gold, 307 kg silver and Rs 11.5 crore in cash.
