Ahmedabad: A court in Gujarat on Friday issued bailable warrants against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and four others for filming Chinkara, an animal protected under the Wildlife Act, in the superhit Bollywood movie Lagaan.
Among the four others is the film's director Ashutosh Gowariker.
Commercial shooting of Chinkara is banned under the Wildlife (Protection) Act.
A Chinkara, a Schedule I animal under the Act, was filmed in the 2002 superhit movie which was shot in Kutch district of Gujarat.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Bhuj asked all the five to appear before it on April 15.
The Gujarat Forest Department had filed an FIR in the court against Aamir and all the others.
