Bajaj Auto unveiled its small car marking its entry into the competitive small car market.
Bajaj Auto, MD, Rajiv Bajaj unveiled the company’s foray into the four-wheeler market.
An A-segment car with A twin cylinder under the hood, a wheel base of two meter and about three meter in length, Bajaj’s small car has a tall boy stance.
Bajaj's says the car will have a unique transmission system, a cross between an automatic and manual.
The standard version of the car will come with air conditioning and will meet safety and emission norms.
Positioned as an intra -city car, Bajaj will take on Tata motors 's people’s car in spirit but not price.
“It would be inappropriate to say that it will be priced at a lakh or two or anywhere in between because is too premature and that is not the centre of gravity for our project. Performance and price is what is important,” says Bajaj.
This is Bajaj's first attempt in the car space and this car will be available in both diesel and petrol versions. The USP of the car would be its fuel efficiency.
Bajaj may have stolen a bit of Tata motors thunder by launching its small car 48 hours before the world debut of the one lakh car or the people's car, but Tata motors will have a first mover advantage as the peoples car will drive out by September this year.
