Mumbai: A Facebook post, subsequent arrest and a high level inquiry later, charges have finally been dropped against the 21-year-old girl who posted comments on Bal Thackeray. This past week, the girl and her family were attacked, her friend who liked the post was also traumatised, but both stood by their statements.
The girls who were recently arrested for their Facebook comments on the Shiv Sena supremo have now said that they regret the fact that they may have hurt public sentiments but believe they did nothing wrong.
The girl who liked the post said, "What I wrote was my opinion. I don't regret what I wrote but whatever happened should not have happened with me." With the IG's report making a case for action against the policemen who arrested her wrongfully, state home minister RR Patil has summoned the Thane SP and Additional Secretary Home. The state women's commission has also called for all the documents related to the arrests to be made available.
