ANGUL: Normal life was hit in Angul town on Tuesday following a dawn-to-dusk bandh call given by the affected villagers of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL). The bandh comes a day before the District Collector and the SP are to submit the status report on JSPL situation to the High Court.

Hundreds of villagers from the  affected villages in Nisha reached here on Tuesday and blocked all the traffic points. The NH-55 was blocked by burning tyres and traffic on Angul-Chhendipada road came to a standstill. They were arrested on Monday while staging a dharna at an important gate of JSPL.

The ` 10 lakh deposited by JSPL with the local administration is yet to be distributed among the injured villagers. JSPL Executive Director Rajesh Jha had even announced provision of more financial aid for the purpose.
