Bangalore: 6 convicted in IISc terror attack case

Bangalore: Six people have been convicted in Indian Institute of Science (IISc) terror attack case by a Bangalore fast track court on Saturday. The court will announce the quantum of punishment in the case on Monday. One of the accused has been acquitted.

Police had charged the accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 120 B, 121, 121A, Section 3 and 4 of Explosive Substances Act, Sections 25 and 26 of the Arms Act.

Former Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi professor MC Puri was killed in the attack while four other were injured.

The attack had taken place when the victims and other participants of an international seminar were going towards the Satish Dhavan auditorium from the JN Tata Auditorium.

The attackers fired indiscriminately at the participants with automatic assault rifles killing Puri and injuring others.
