Bangalore: A 24-year old techie, reported missing after he went on a trek in the Bannerghatta National Park near Bangalore, was on Monday found dead and is suspected to have been trampled by an elephant, police said.
The body of Sathvik Shastry, a senior business analyst with a software firm, was found in Ragihalligudda in forest area near Anekal taluk in Bangalore Rural district, police said, adding he was suspected to have been trampled to death by elephants.
Superintendent of Police, Bangalore Rural District, D Prakash said Shastry went trekking along with two friends on Sunday. As he did not return after he went to answer nature's call, his friends reported the matter to police.
"The postmortem is being done and then we'll hand over the body to the family. Its very unfortunate. Even villagers had warned the trio not to go there. I have now directed the Deputy Conservator of Forests to initiate some action and not let trespassers there," he said.
