Bangalore: They guarantee you a smile on days you feel nothing is right. From a bunch of squiggles with witty captions to characters that have become a part of your morning routine, it is time we gave cartoons their due credit.
And for that mater, the Indian Institute of Cartoonists in Bangalore have set up the Indian Cartoon Gallery which is the first of its kind in the country.
"To promote the art of cartooning in India, and of course in Bangalore also, we have established the cartoon institute. And this cartoon gallery is one of the programs and we will have lots of cartoon exhibitions one after the other throughout the year,” says Managing Trustee, Indian Cartoon Gallery, V G Narendra.
The gallery is currently running a three-month inaugural show, after which it will showcase works of selected cartoonists. And the city's cartoon lovers are the happiest lot now.
“I think it's excellent for the city because there are so many young budding cartoonist who don't have scope for displaying their talent,” says one cartoon lover.
“Finally we got a place because we are all human cartoons drawn by the God,” adds another.
“This is one of its kind, because it has displayed people who have been drawing for ages, and seeing them together is really a big achievement here,” another cartoon lover also adds.
In a world filled with sorrow, the cartoons are spreading more smiles around.
