Bangalore: Bangalore Police have sent a stern warning to the Sri Ram Sene to not disrupt in Valentine’s Day celebrations.
Reading out the Riot Act Bangalore Police Commissioner Shanka Bidari has said that anyone disrupting Valentine’s Day celebrations will be punished.
“The observance of Valentine's Day by some individuals, groups or associations is in accordance with the spirit of our constitution and society. Any attempt to prevent or obstruct any individuals or group of persons from observing Valentine's Day forcibly will amount to an offence punishable u/s 153(A) of the Indian Penal Code,” reads the Act.
The police have also promised protection to pubs, bars and restaurants in the city. They have also urged the owners of the pubs and restaurants to report any damage or obstruction.
In a press notice, the police said that celebrating Valentine’s Day is in line with the spirit of the constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and expression.
