Bangalore: The police have taken up investigation into the twin blasts at Bangalore's Chinnaswamy Stadium just before the start of IPL match on Saturday.
Sources say that the explosive was an ammonium nitroglycerin gelatin stick. It was detonated with a micro-chip fitted timer. The explosive was wrapped in a plastic cover and placed near the wall adjacent to Gate 12 of the stadium.
However, the police are struggling to find concrete leads. What has rattled Bangalore police is that the bomb went unnoticed even after the stadium was sanitised thrice and the anti-sabotage team as well as explosive detectors were in place at the stadium.
Police sources say that the explosives were hidden in the bushes. Two bombs went off at the Stadium wounding 12 people. Bangalore's M Chinnaswamy Stadium was rocked by two low intensity bomb blasts on Saturday afternoon just an hour before the Indian Premier League match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers, Bangalore was scheduled to start.
