Bangalore: Techies in Bangalore are out on the streets campaigning for Democrat Presidential Candidate Barack Obama. For four long months techies in Bangalore have been supporting Obama in road rallies and have even managed to collect over 2 lakh rupees as donation for the Democrat Party.
The reason these techies or Obamaniacs of Bangalore are campaigning for Obama is that they believe in his ideas.
"He is very dynamic, energetic and he is a leader who believes in change," said one Obama fan.
"I feel he will keep up his promises," said another optimistic Obama fan.
For young people like these techies it's not LK Advani or Rahul Gandhi that have caught their imagination but it's Barack Obama that they believe in.
And they believe that it's campaigns like these that will help him win his race to the White House.
"We are campaigning here and will certainly influence the Indians in US to vote for Obama," said an Obama fan.
But when asked if they'd show the same passion for an Indian leader, the answers are not positive.
"No way," said one Obama enthusiast. "I don't think so, but I might support Rahul Gandhi to some extent," said another.
These youngsters are out to support a man they probably ahve never heard of before the US presidential race began. But behind their almost eccentric display of adulation, lies a small hope that Obama can solve the economic crisis in the US which directly affects the IT industry in Bangalore.
