Click to play videoDhaka (Bangladesh): Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has returned to Dhaka. Bangladesh's military backed interim government had banned her from entering the country two weeks ago, but there are no reports of any arrest so far.
At the Zia International Airport in Dhaka, thousands waited to see her, and when former Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina finally came out waving to her supporters, she got a rapturous welcome, breaking all laws of a country under emergency rule, where any political gathering is banned.
On arrival, Sheikh Hasina expressed her gratefulness for the support she got.
"I am grateful to the world media and the world leaders for their support. The countries like America, UK, Europe and European Union and the Bangladeshis who live abroad all supported me," she said.
The Awami League leader had gone to visit her family in the US in March. Last month, the interim government refused her permission to come back.
The government has also charged her for murder and extortion. On returning, Hasina warned the government not to put her under house arrest, like her rival Khaleda Zia.
Now that Shiekh Hasina is back home, it's clear that the politics in Bangladesh cannot do without it's two begums.
