New Delhi: The Union Bank of India, the main bankers of Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, has threatened to freeze all accounts and operations of Lilavati Hospital Trust.

The bank sent notice to Lilavati Hospital Trust after a PIL was filed in the Supreme Court based on CNN-IBN investigations which exposed how five trustees of Lilavati led by Prabodh Kiritilal Mehta were involved in money laundering.

Lilavati Hopital Trust's fixed deposits have already been frozen by the Union Bank of India.

The Union Bank has given Lilavati trustees seven days to submit a joint fresh mandate for operating the accounts.

The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Income Tax Department, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Enforcement Directorate and Central Government on money laundering charges against the Prabodh Kirtilal Mehta-led group.

The Income Tax Department had also raided the hospital on Aprol 11 after the Supreme Court took up the PIL.

The court has tagged the Lilavati case with the Hasan Ali Khan black money case.

The trustees include - Prabodh Kirtilal Mehta, Rashmi Kirtilal Mehta and their sons Chetan and Bhavin Mehta, along with their appointee Vijay Choraria. Most of them are busy in Switzerland right now to close down their black money accounts.
