New Delhi: Aaja Nachle is just another film in a long list of films, which have been either banned in the country or severely criticised for their content.
Award-winning documentary Final Solution, which was based on the 2002 Gujarat riots was delayed for several months, owing to a ban imposed on it by the censor board which found it "highly provocative".
The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee, the highest religious authority of Sikhism, in May 2005 demanded a blanket ban on the film Jo Bole So Nihal. The Sunny Deol-starrer was withdrawn from Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh
Seven states, including Nagaland, Punjab, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, in 2006 banned Hollywood film The Da Vinci Code, contending that it showed Christianity in poor light.
Many theatres pulled out Aamir Khan starrer Fanaa in 2006 in Gujarat after the actor extended his support for those displaced by the Narmada Dam project and attended a protest by activist Medha Patkar.
In January 2007 Parzania a movie on the 2002 Gujarat riots, could not get a release in Gujarat.
