Barcelona: Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova has received some encouraging news as experienced defender Carles Puyol has resumed training after the defender spent past two months on a treatment table after he was sidelined with a knee injury.
"The captain trained apart from the rest of the squad in the group's penultimate session before they fly out to Germany on Tuesday for their first pre-season friendly against Hamburg," Barca said in a statement on their website.
"Puyol will undergo further medical tests next Monday, July 30th, to confirm his fitness to return to full training - the same day that the team's Spanish internationals resume training," the statement said.
The 34-year-old Spaniard picked up the injury in the closing stages of the 2011/12 campaign, and missed Euro 2012 after undergoing surgery.
