New Delhi: ‘The Messiah’ is already starting to lick his lips at the prospect of a judgement day showdown with the Red Devils.

Barcelona stretched themselves to the absolute limit to eliminate Chelsea from the Champions League and set up a mouth-watering dream final with reigning European kings Manchester United.

Neither the Blaugrana nor their boy wizard, Lionel Messi, had the best of games in Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw with the Blues at Stamford Bridge but the Argentine forward is adamant that his side warrant their place in the showpiece event in Rome on May 27.

"It was very difficult and we suffered a lot, but I believe we deserved to be in the final. We knew that we could achieve it and we did not give up until the last minute," he was quoted as saying by Sport.

"It was a marvellous evening for all of us and all our fans. It’s great to see such joy. But the competition continues and the truth is, there’s hardly any time to think about it. At the moment, Barca and Manchester United are the two best teams in the world. It is a final that everyone had hoped for and I believe we will see a very beautiful game," he added.

The Blaugrana are now only a matter of weeks away from bagging the grand treble after a long, arduous season and Messi is optimistic that his side can pull it off.

"We are now one step closer to winning all three competitions. It is clear that the treble is a very possible target," he beamed.

Barcelona can indeed wrap up two of the three titles over the next few days. The have a chance to sew up the Primera Division crown this Sunday if the beat Villarreal at home and closest rivals Real Madrid stumble at Valencia, before travelling to the Mestalla themselves to take on Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final on May 15.
