indianexpressExpress News Service

KOLLAM: CPI general secretary A B Bardhan has asked the party workers to shed their ‘’inferiority complex and mutual disputes’’ and work towards strengthening the Leftist movement in the country.

Inaugurating the delegates’ session of the CPI state conference at J Chitharanjan Nagar here on Wednesday, Bardhan stressed the need for a very people’s alternative in the country.  Brushing aside the controversies that have sprouted and stressing the need for unity among the Left parties, the CPI general secretary said the socialist movement is influenced by the prevailing political situation and not by the trends existing in the parties.

Instead of trying to find different trends in the Left parties, there is an urgent need to come  together to fight the two bourgeois parties, the BJP and the Congress, he said.

Bardhan Hails Chandrappan

On the recent controversies over CPI-CPM differences, he requested the media not to make a ‘’mountain out of a molehill.’’ In an apparent reply to all criticisms levelled against state secretary, Bardhan said that it should not be forgotten that C K Chandrappan was respectful leader hailing from a family known for its heroic contributions to the Punnapara-Vayalar uprising.
