New Delhi: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Friday rubbished the claims made by Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh that the Batla House encounter was fake.
The home minister said that the encounter was genuine, adding that the matter rests where it stands today.
He further said that there was no need to open the matter again.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, the home minister also talked about the move by the Election Commission to put on hold the quota for Muslims.
Pointing that the announcement was made before the declarations of the poll dates, Chidambaram asserted that there was no violation.
The home minister, however, said that he might not agree with the decision, adding that the quota was on hold till March.
He said that any new admissions and appointments would be made after March 6.
