BB Mohanty identifies son's photo but police say he didn't help Bitti jump parole

Cuttack: After nearly four hours of questioning of Bitti's father, the special investigation team of Kerala Police said on Saturday that BB Mohanty was innocent and didn't help his son jump parole and assume a fake identity of Raghav Rajan.

"Our investigation says that BB Mohanty is innocent. He has though identified Bitti's photo available with us," said the Kerala Police team head Joshi Joseph.

The senior Mohanty was expected to provide the key to unlock the mystery of Bitti's underground life of the past six years, but despite the claims made by a few witnesses that he did meet his son in Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh earlier, he got a clean chit from the police.

Meanwhile, Kerala Police has succeeded in establishing that Bitti Mohanty had forged all his school, college and university certificates before his rape conviction.

BB Mohanty, former Odisha DGP, however, refused to give details of his interrogation saying, "The last time I spoke to CNN-IBN, I was in trouble. So, I will not comment anything now as the investigation is on and would amount to contempt of law," he said.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Police has succeeded in establishing that Bitti had forged all his school, college and university certificates before his conviction in the German tourist rape case. He had, later, used those certificates to change his identify to Raghav Rajan.
