Mumbai: Michael Jackson took the world's breath away when he moonwalked across the stage during his Billie Jean act at the 25th Anniversary of Motown in 1983. Little did he know his iconic moves would pave the way for other urban dances to gain popularity be it - pop, hip hop, break dancing or B-boying.
B-boy dance crew Underdog Kombat in Mumbai and shared their thoughts on Jackson's passing.
B-boying is an advanced form of all these dance styles combined. Originating in the Bronx during the 1970s, B-boys or break boys got their moniker for dancing to the breaks in music while a DJ was spinning records.
Underdog Kombat is the top crew in Mumbai and its members have the utmost respect for Jackson.
"He is a damn good dancer. Everyone follows him. He is the creator of breakdance actually. He is a legend," said Underdog Kombat's Bboy Ninja.
"Obviously his dance is street style, not exactly B-boying but it is influenced us in many ways. We take him as one of the big icons who has passed away," said Underdog Kombat's Bboy Keith.
These dancers can moonwalk, but they prefer to focus on perfecting the four basic elements of B-Boying - toprock, downrock, freezes, and power moves.
