Mumbai: Board of Control for Cricket in India vice president Lalit Modi has come under the scanner of the Income Tax department.

The Income Tax Department conducted raids at the residences of Lalit Modi, who is also the president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, on Saturday.

An I-T official said the Jaipur unit of the department conducted the raid following charges of alleged tax evasion by Modi.

According to sources Modi's south Mumbai residence was also raided.

The BCCI is already mired in another controversy involving former president Jagmohan Dalmiya who has been accused by cricket board of misappropriation of PILCOM funds against him.

PILCOM funds relate to the 1996 Cricket World Cup that was hosted jointly by India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Dalmiya, who is the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, had moved a Kolkata court seeking fresh copies of documents and extension of time to reply to the BCCI management.

However, the court dismissed his plea on Friday.
