New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is in negotiations with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) to trim down its tour scheduled for February-March next year, The New Zealand Herald reported on Tuesday.
India are to play three Tests, five ODIs and one T20 international on the tour that, according to NZC chief executive David White, BCCI wants to be shortened to two matches each in the three formats.
"Nothing's been decided. We are working through the details but I think [the schedule] could be done within the next couple of weeks," the New Zealand Herald quoted White as saying.
The bone of contention seems to be India's participation in the Asia Cup scheduled from February 24 to March 8 in Bangladesh, which clashes with the tour of New Zealand - India's first since 2009-10.
But NZC is reportedly reluctant to accept BCCI's request to shorten the tour.
