New Delhi: Real estate prices are over the moon these days and if you are house hunting there isn't a decent deal available on earth and hence sites like lunarembassy.com, lunarregistry.com and moonshop.com, will only be too glad to sell you a piece of your own celestial earth.
The commute would may be a drag but there's plenty of space on the moon and the view is to die for. A whole acre costs a measly Rs 1,000. No wonder, even Indians have put down a deposit.
"I know I may sound stupid or loony but there will be a possibility that human beings will be able to go to the moon in the future," said Anish Das Gupta who has bought land on the moon.
If you are thinking is it really possible to live on the moon? Well, scientists know it's rich in minerals and believe it might have frozen water. Which is why NASA's planning a lunar post by 2020.
But hold on before you whip out your cheque-books.
"International treaties forbid private or sovereign ownership of extraterrestrial real estate," says space lawyer Ranjana Kaul.
Plots have already started been named - The Sea of Tranquility, Mount Agnes, the Alpes Valley.
Of course, to start building, one would need to get there first. That is easy as Google will give you $ 30 million if you can build a personal spacecraft to fly to the moon.
